African American oral history project wins award
Children’s Services Council is thrilled to announce that Dr. Alisha Winn, an adjunct professor of applied cultural anthropology, earned an honorable mention for the 2023 Praxis Award for her leadership in the “Palm Beach County African American Virtual Oral History Project” by the Washington Association of Professional Anthropologists.
Dr. Winn partnered with Children’s Services Council of Palm Beach County and the School District of Palm Beach County on the project, which brought together high school and college students who interviewed community elders to learn, gather and present information about what life was like growing up in Palm Beach County during segregation.
